Cooling Systems

The moving parts in your vehicle’s engine create friction.  Friction creates heat and heat is the enemy of your engine’s successful operation.  Your engine requires constant cooling for normal operation and to avoid engine damage.  This cooling process normally occurs when a mixture of water and antifreeze is circulated through your engine.  The antifreeze and water mixture are super cooled as it is pumped through the radiator before returning to the engine.  This complicated process takes place using a combination of the radiator, fan, water pump, temperature sensor, hoses & thermostat all working together in harmony.

If you are experiencing an overheating engine, any of your cooling system components may be involved.  Common overheating problems are caused by a simple leak.  The leak reduces the volume of the water/antifreeze solution in the reservoir and starves the system.  Also, your vehicle’s antifreeze has a useful life expectancy. Your vehicle’s manual provides suggested mileage intervals to replace your antifreeze.

SO, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN YOU NEED ANTIFREEZE REPLACED?  WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS IN FOR REGULAR SCHEDULED SERVICE OUR TECHNICIANS PERFORM A CHECK OF YOUR ANTIFREEZE CONDITION AND ADVISE IF IT IS TIME TO PERFORM A RADIATOR FLUSH TO REPLACE WORN OUT ANTIFREEZE.
